This was probably the crispiest and juciest fried chicken I have ever tried. The batter was thicker than other chicken I have tried but it was very crunchy and flavorful. The fries were also delicious with a savory seasoning. The house hot sauce was nothing special. I wasn’t a fan of the coleslaw or bread either and could have done without them.
Cheeseburger all the way and a side of cole slaw $7.70. Visited the Hampton Street location. Small amount of seating, line almost to the door when I left, go my order to go as it did not feel like there was any air conditioning. I think prices were higher than when I looked up prices on web. Don’t know that I’ll return. Food was okay.
Drake's is a staple of Columbia and has been around longer than my grandparents. It's got the best fried chicken sandwich in all of Columbia and if you're not satisfied, then I don't know what's wrong with you, but you need help. Their hot dogs are also bangers. The diner itself is cute and I love the location. It's very affordable and you should definitely make this a breakfast, lunch, or dinner stop!
The food is seasoned good and it was fresh but I like to know that my meat is being cleaned and when I get skin as the one pictured below, I for sure know no one is cleaning the meat! I didn't want fried feathered chicken! Lol. The overall place looks like it's under renovations but the staff was nice. Prices are reasonable as well. Please clean your meat and then I'll be back.

First time eating here was today. Was on door dash trying to find something new and this little place showed up so I decided to give it a chance. I ordered the chili cheese dog with onions, 4 chicken fingers, and chili cheese fries. The fingers were great , fully cooked, flavorful, and about medium sized. They honey mustard they have a sweet and tastes great. The chili cheese fries were ok. I did not like the chili on the fries, it had a sweet taste to it but it was NOT horrible, just not my taste. The actual fries were crispy and the cheese they used was shredded not queso. I prefer queso. The chilil cheese dog was great. Oddly enough, the chili used on the hotdog was good and not sweet at all so I actually enjoyed that. Next time I choose to eat here I will make sure that I go in person to check out the brick and mortar!
I regularly grab the lunch special. The chicken is just plain good. No frills or thrills, but when you just want quality fried chicken, you can always count on Drake’s.
Thursdays late night at Drake's. They were opened late tonight to participate in First Thursdays on Main Street in Columbia. It's been over 10 years since I have eaten their tasty chicken. Tonight we had the hot 2-piece with rolls. a slice of pound cake and sodas. The Staff was very friendly. I do recommend and will return.
